Merging six vocalist-instrumentalists from an array of musical backgrounds, Bristol-based Tryani Collective

perform original compositions featuring multi-part vocal arrangements interwoven with explosive

percussion, synthesisers and drums. Equally at home blasted over a festival crowd or stripped down for an

intimate acoustic performance, Tryani Collective’s infectious energy transports both performers and

audience into an ecstatic trance. With a growing reputation for their precise and passionate delivery, the

group features members of some of the UK’s most innovative music projects including Spindle Ensemble,

Solana, Soma Soma, Stevie Toddler, Tezeta, Zoobers, & Safrela.

Tryani Collective’s hypnotic polyphony draws on influences from Henry Purcell, Cocanha and San Salvador,

using original texts both as lyrics and as musical motifs. Words are broken down and distorted, and voices

are used as instruments to explore the expressive potential of the human voice. This symbiotic exchange

between percussion and vocals creates a sound simultaneously complex and unified. Their deceptively

pared-down instrumentation explores a wide range of harmonic and rhythmic textures, from the haunting

call of ‘Bitter Water’ to the dancing, crowd-rousing momentum of ‘Hierarchy’. Recent gigs include Shambala

Festival, Starry Skies, Fire in The Mountain, supporting Bab L’ Bluz (Real World Records) at The Jam Jar

Bristol, and The Gallimaufry, the legendary Bristol venue that has launched the careers of Waldo’s Gift,

Snazzback, MADLY, Binbag Wisdom and others.
