TUMAH, Dear Robot

  • The Prince Albert Rodborough Hill Stroud, England, GL5 United Kingdom (map)

TUMAH, previously known under the artist name Linah Rocio, is a Chilean/Swiss songwriter, spoken word artist and performer, now living in Stroud. She is commonly known for the track Love Letter, a spoken word track from the album Armour and the Universe which was featured in the Blank & Jones Compilation Chilltronica No 6.

Tumah started her solo music career in Switzerland as Linah Rocio.
She was aired on various Swiss and German radio stations, as well as broadcasted on national Swiss, as well as Austrian TV and performed on various stages, ranging from small venues to bigger Festivals such as Songbird Davos (CH), Blue Balls (CH) and Blues Festival Baden (CH) as main singer and guest appearance.

2017 she got signed by Aveline Records in London with her album Warrior Talk.
A grant and artist residency by Aargauer Kuratorium in collaboration with ACME followed in 2018 and brought her to London. 2019 she moved from Zürich to London, later in 2020 to Stroud.

Between February and July 2023 she recorded a full length album together with Dave Ayre (bass), Eddie Walker (drums) and guest musicians Brendan Adams and Jean Pierre von Dach from Austria and Switzerland. It was a daring project, as no rehearsals could take place and most of the music was recorded live and arranged and produced ad hoc at Humm Studios in Bristol. The experience can only be described as magical from all involved and it has had a magical path ever since, drawing in the most interesting coincidences in completing the album. The Album The Sorceress Dreaming is currently still in the mix process and to be released 2024, date TBA.

Her music can best be described as intimate, nearly eerie, atmospheric and very emotional, with a voice often compared to that of Björk or Rickie Lee Jones. An authentic singer songwriter with something to say and something to give.

Piano, vocals: Tumah Bass: Dave Ayre Drums: Eddie Walker

Support on the day will come from Dear Robot. Dear Robot is the solo of Stroud based composer and film maker Tom Jacob. The first long awaited album, “Oh No’!” is due to be released this year and is an ambitious, cinematic effort, combining delicate song writing, immersive soundscapes and orchestral textures. Also known as a regular classical performer both solo and wit Dave Ayre’s Baroque Nighty, Tom will be playing a rare solo set, just his voice and guitar. Do make sure you catch this highly anticipated performance.
