For sale – Rodborough fields & Frome Banks

For the first time in a generation an amazing opportunity has arisen to purchase the historically and environmentally important fields bordering the River Frome and north of Arundel Drive, Rodborough, giving the Stroud community a once in a lifetime chance to secure them for recreational use, to protect and encourage biodiversity, to provide educational opportunities and amenity value.

A group has been formed with the intention of submitting an informal tender to the seller’s agents by the closing date of 2.4.2025.

The group will be working with the community, local landowners and other local community groups and charities to explore the purchase of the land and a long term management plan.

The group is now looking for pledges of support from the community.

We are in the process of working with a well established local non-profit organisation to create a project fund in which people may invest by making donations. The primary objective is to purchase the land for the benefit of the community.

We are also currently researching what grants may be available, both locally and nationally, but is clear that these will only form a part of the fundraising that is required. We have a tight timescale, and we may need to raise around £200K to purchase one, or £375K in order to purchase both of the fields.

As part of the process, we need to establish if the project is viable and whether there is a genuine willingness to contribute sufficient funds to purchase some or all of the land.

At this stage we are measuring public interest. There is no obligation to make payment – any details submitted would be kept confidentially and only be used to contact you again if the project progresses.
