Gideon Conn, Granfalloon, T.E Yates

  • The Prince Albert Rodborough Hill Stroud, England, GL5 United Kingdom (map)

Gideon Conn has played here may times now. He is one artist that has managed to get past our strict ‘no covers/no tributes’ mantra and rule. He is also known for effortlessly blending acoustic folk and hip hop, Gideon has a unique performance style which make audiences very happy.

Way back in Dec ’07 was the release date of Gideon’s first single ‘I want you around’ a 10″ vinyl released on Get Cape Wear Cape Fly’s label Mannequin Records. It was Xfm playlisted, and breakfast single of the week on Shaun Keaveney’s 6 music show. This was followed by a BBC Maida Vale session with Huw Stephens.

UK Support tours with Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip and Jason Mraz followed in ’08 along with appearances at Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude and several other festivals. ‘Trademark’ featured on Rob Da Bank’s Bestival A-Z compilation.

’09 – runner up in red stripe music competition (Ben Howard won), UK tour with folk pop group 6 Day Riot, also documentary ‘Hitting Home -Good Luck Gideon’ aired on Manchester’s Channel M. Acoustic single ‘Londonderry’ released on newly formed independent label ‘New Bop Sounds’ which became the title of Gideon’s debut full album released Sept ’10……. and so on.

Granfalloon was conceived in 2017 when songwriter and producer Lomax recorded the debut album, Down There For Dancing, with lo-fi drum machines, an Omnichord, and a guitar.

The second album, RGB, was released in 2019. Lomax began working with a full band, weaving his oddball elements into dreamy songs and cinematic soundscapes. The album's singles were championed by BBC Introducing and 6 Music.

In 2020-2021 Lomax began to find more reward in playing acoustic instruments with other human beings and Positive Songs, the third Granfalloon album saw a move away from electronics towards a more organic sound.

Lomax has previously released two albums with Johnny5thWheel&thecowards described as "a work of genius" by Whisperin' & Hollerin' and "one of the finest folk-pop records of the year" by God Is In The TV. He is currently working on his fourth album, while still working on his third. A perfectionist, maybe.

T.E. Yates is a multi-disciplinary artist of rare and disarming qualities that must be seen and heard to be believed. Unassuming, unusual and enigmatic,Most musicians boast of exploding onto their local scene in a glittering blaze of media hype and spontaneous applause. T.E. Yates, however, snuck in through an open window. He’s performed in front of huge crowds but always as a hired hand or supporting player, a multi-instrumentalist in the shadows – mandolin, banjo, harmonica, even musical saw – you may have heard him on the tracks of other artists without even knowing it.
