Fireside Bookshop Presents - Nick Edward-Harris and The Galleons.

  • The Prince Albert Rodborough Hill Stroud, England, GL5 United Kingdom (map)

Nick Edward-Harris - It's not often you find an artist who is as innovative and skillful in their playing as they are in their songwriting, but Nick certainly falls into that category. He's an engaging performer who pushes the limits of the acoustic guitar and who's atmospheric songwriting is firmly rooted in the present whilst also hinting at the some of the greats such as John Martyn and Nick Drake.

He's supported many of the big names in the modern indie-folk scene as well as performing with the brilliant Patch and The Giant. He has a new album out and is an artist not to be missed!

The Galleons - Their melodic, spell-binding music cuts a dash between traditional British Folk and modern Indie. Equally at home playing in a darkened, candle-lit cellar as they are in a sunny (or more often rainy) festival field, their music takes the audience from catchy, foot stomping folk-rock to mellow, mysterious lullabies and back.

Support slots with bands like This is the Kit, The Blockheads, The Wave Pictures and many more besides have showcased their versatility and the band love creating lush musical soundscapes whilst also understanding the importance of a catchy hook. The songwriting rarely walks the well trodden paths of love, loss and rejection, instead expect post apocalyptic adventures with Bruce Willis, farming in Lativa, magical suitcases and a small sprinkling of time travel.

This is a part of a series of gigs put on by Music Nest, the people at Fireside Bookshop.

Here is a few words from them “We love putting on great live music at great live music venues! We think The Albert is one of the best around but if you fancy something a bit more family friendly we put on the same acts in the afternoon at Stroud Brewery. Please check out our Music Nest listings for more info.”
